Responsibility

Human rights organisations are an important party in the protection of citizens’ rights. They work to give visibility to the freedom of assembly and association, monitor rights violations and support citizens in their struggles for change.

Competences include:

  • Document violations of the right to freedom of assembly and association; 
  • To support citizens in denouncing violations; 
  • To encourage the government to adopt reforms; 
  • They can also provide legal assistance and educational resources to citizens to help them in their struggle to respect basic human rights.
